About Our Pastor

Chester W. Marshall, Jr - better known as "Pastor Chet"!

“Faithful, dedicated, compassionate, loving” are just a few words the New Beginnings congregation used to describe Pastor Chet in a poem they wrote during Pastor Appreciation. Born and raised on the Eastern Shores of Virginia, he heard the voice of God calling him to ministry at a young age. As a teen, he miraculously came to Pennsylvania to train in ministry, which is where he met his wife, Sandy. They have had a beautiful, godly marriage for the last 42 years.

Chet & Sandy have been a powerful force together, serving in ministry for nearly half century (and over 36 of those years have been pastoring in Centre County!). New Beginnings is a result of a church plant that was established in 2004. Transforming lives through Christ (the previous name of this church family) continues to be the focus of their ministry. There are so many incredible testimonies of God’s transforming grace in our congregation. We invite you to come experience the love of this pastoral team as we celebrate what God is doing in Centre County!

Here's what you can expect:

When you come to New Beginnings, you will find a congregation with open arms ready to welcome you to the family. We are a fun congregation who enjoys fellowship. We say, come as you are. No need to dress up. We start the morning off with coffee and donuts at 9:30, then enjoy a time of worship together, followed by a powerful message from Pastor Chet. We provide Children’s Church during the message time.
